ELIZABETHTON, Tenn. (February 2, 2015) – Sycamore Springs Senior Living Community will become the Tri-Cities newest—and Elizabethon’s first—assisted living community when it opens in April 2015.
Currently under construction at 1504 W. Elk Ave., Sycamore Springs will introduce premier retirement living to the Johnson City region in a safe, attentive and homelike atmosphere. Reservations are being accepted for 30 deluxe assisted living apartments plus 16 deluxe Alzheimer’s units in a dedicated memory care wing.
“We are looking forward to be joining the local healthcare community in serving the Tri-Cities’ senior population,” says Bryan Cook, Vice President of Cleveland, Tenn.-based Legacy Senior Services, which will manage Sycamore Springs. “Our mission is to serve the ‘Greatest Generation of Americans’ with honor, respect, faith and integrity,” Cook says.
“Seniors and their loved ones from all over the Johnson City region will be impressed with the high level of design and professional care they will find at Sycamore Springs. The quality of assisted living and memory care is unrivaled in the Tri-Cities area,” said Rhonda Mitchell, executive director of Sycamore Springs. “Seniors and their families will also appreciate how conveniently located we are to Johnson City and Bristol—just a short drive,” Mitchell said.
With its handsome design and homelike character, Sycamore Springs will offer three options for assisted living residents: studio, studio deluxe and one-bedroom apartments. Memory care residents will enjoy a choice between two floor plans: a studio deluxe apartment, or a companion apartment with shared living area and bathroom and separate bedrooms.
Assisted living amenities for all residents of Sycamore Springs will include:
24-hour-a-day access to a caring and compassionate staff,
personal needs assistance (i.e. bathing, grooming and dressing),
regular health checks,
medication supervision and administration,
housekeeping and linen services,
transportation for medical appointments and for church or other personal errands,
a beauty/barber shop with a licensed hairdresser,
as well as free Wi-Fi for all residents and visiting family members.
All residents will enjoy a stimulating activities program, designed to meet their physical, social, intellectual and spiritual needs. Large multipurpose rooms for games and activities have been incorporated into the design concept, as well as a private dining room where residents can visit quietly with visiting family members and guests for dinner.
Additionally, the 16-unit memory care wing will incorporate two state-of-the-art amenities for residents dealing with memory care issues: SimpleC Companionand A Purposeful Day ProgramSM. Both programs will play a huge part in the delivery of service, care and life enrichment for memory care residents.
Simple C is a cutting edge, scientifically proven, non-drug therapy to promote memory retention. It is specifically tailored for each individual and blends technology with behavioral therapy utilizing familiar images, music and voices from a residents’ own life to stimulate and help retain the memories of important people and key events. This service is delivered via touch screen, multimedia display supplied to each individual in their apartment suite. The interactive flat-panel monitor will broadcast recorded messages of family members, show family photographs and play music specific to each individual.
A Purposeful Day ProgramSM is a comprehensive activities program that focuses on helping residents meet their highest daily potential by offering engaging activities throughout the day. The components of the program are focused on both individual and group opportunities, as research shows that both can effectively stimulate memory. The program will incorporate four types of specific therapy to engage residents: Reminiscence Therapy, Trusted Voice Therapy, Time and Place Therapy and Music Therapy.
